Last week I was honored to be a part of a special day for some special friends...
I got to go to Molokai  to photograph Layne & Rachel's wedding , Jordyn was the flower girl... a great thrill for her,  and I took along my good friend Kimberly to assist me and we look so much a like everyone thought she was my sister! We had a blast!!
We made new friends... this is the view from their front yard...

I can't wait to go back and hang out with them... oh and they have an awesome vacation rental with this same view... check out www.Molokaibeachfront.com if you need a place to stay!

Layne and Rachel are a stunning couple... blond beauties who live in San Diego

I couldn't resist making her show me those arms!! Isn't she gorgeous!
And my sweet little girl wearing a dress with her hair done... It's a VERY special occasion for that to happen!!

The ceremony was on the beach and the reception at a beautiful home... we had a great time and were so honored to be a part of it. They are very loved... over 70 people flew in from the Mainland. I think we just  about doubled the population of Molokais west side!

a Moms gotta brag...

I don't do it very often, but once in a while I just have to brag about my sweet little girl... OK she isn't so little anymore, it really does seem like in the blink of an eye they go from being little beings  to turning in to their own little person... but I digress.
I am so proud because my daughter, Jordyn, has won second place in the 9th annual Dr . Martin Luther King, Jr. Peace Poem Contest! Yeah Jordyn!
This contest is sponsored by a Maui organization that is dedicated to promoting poetry and_mg_6146_2 spreading the word of Dr King and his quest for peace within our society and within the world.
The awards were presented by Michael Taylor  from the Hawaiian Voyaging Society and crew member on the Hokule`a  which was pretty cool. He had a great opening speech and happened to be in college at the University of Mississippi in 1962 when Dr. King was so active in that area and the first year that they allowed a black student in the school.
_mg_6150

She received a mayoral certificate and is very proud of herself as well!
_mg_6156

She is turning into quite the artist, which makes me so proud.... last November she won 1st place in her school district for an art contest where she drew dinosaurs reading in a library! Now she says too that she wants to become a photographer! How cool is that!!
so thanks for listening/reading through my bragging...  I will go back now to teaching her &keeping myself  humble!
till next time...

A week full of MIRACLES

Miracle, as described by Websters Dictionary is " a remarkable thing" . For me that is an apt definition of every child I have ever met! Every child is remarkable, each one unique, they are all amazing miracles!

Years ago, I was helped out a lot by a team of medical professionals... I have always wanted to give back for that so now here it is... our first week of creating images to help support Kapi`olani Women and Children's' Health Center is finally here!
Our Miracles photo sessions are designed to raise funds for the Health Center and with your help we will reach our goal of $75,000.00!
We still have a couple spaces left for later this week at our North Shore location or for our town location in May we have now added a day, Wednesday May 7th, plus we have a couple of slots still open on Thursday and Friday the 8th & 9th.
This is going to be an exciting time to create beautiful images of beautiful children... I am grateful  to be a part of it....

I hope to see Miracles of all kinds this week.... and will be back to post some images later!

Total Cuteness!

I love my job! In fact, I am not sure how it an be called a "job" when I get to have so much fun!
I had the cutest little girls in this week...
This one was from a session at Waimea Valley... one of my favorite places to shoot! OHA has just recently taken over from the Audubon Society and it seems they have great plans for the valley and caring for the 'aina. It is really pretty in there right now with all of the different flowers blooming, maybe I will go get some shots of that soon!

So meet little Miss J...
she is almost 2 years old and has such a sparkle in her eye... a little kolohe streak maybe, but overall, she is total cuteness!
Biven060_2
Biven315
Being a photographer I don't get to be in front of the camera  very much... I actually prefer it this way but what I would give to have an image like this of me & my daughter...
Biven276 This Mom and daughter had a really neat bond and I am glad that I was able to capture it for them.
Until next time..

needed...

cute Hawaiian looking models...

I was so inspired tonight when I went into the Tabora Art Gallery in Haleiwa... I took my daughter out for a Kua A`ina  cheeseburger tonight (so yummy!) and while it was cooking we browsed his gallery where he is featuring this brilliant artist from Kauai... She is actually from Sweden and now lives on the North Shore of Kauai and her work is stunning! She is a realistic, meaning she paints thinks as they really look and she has some paintings of a Hawaiian  girl that were so perfect and inspiring to me. It's funny too as I was just thinking about this recently and wanting to create some Hawaiiana looking work so I take Anna's work as a sign and as a giant inspiration!

So, my idea #1 is I need 2-3 kids that are local or hapa looking that are all around that 9-11 month age... they must be standing but not yet walking ... twins or triplets would be even better!

My idea # 2 is for a girl that is local looking and maybe 18-28 with long flowy hair to do some outdoor portraits in a tropical flower garden.

I have other ideas brewing but this is what I want to start with, so if you know anyone that fits these descriptions, please have them call or e-mail me asap!!

thanks & I hope to be able to share the results soon!
much aloha,

cuteness

What in the world is cuter than a sweet little sleeping puppy?
Puppies071_4
OK so maybe a cute little baby... or maybe a sweet little toddler... or maybe even a darling little 4 year old... OK, so next to kids, there is nothing cuter than a puppy... and these are some pretty cute puppies!
Puppies008_3
And most of you know how much I love little feet.... so how about all of these little feet!
Puppies052_2
Of course I couldn't resist putting the two cutest things in the world together.... Puppies195
So it's unanimous... cute babies and cute puppies are the best!
