Hawaii's Miracles

We are so excited to announce our new project coming up in April.....
Island Style Images is teaming up with Kapi`olani Children's Hospital to create a 2009 Hawaii's Miracles Calendar and a limited edition coffee table book!
Kapi`olani is a non-profit hospital and for nearly 100 years Hawaii's only children's hospital who have been providing exceptional care for Hawaii's keiki.
So how does your child get  chance to be on the calendar?
For a $100 tax deductible donation to Kapi`olani, your child will be scheduled to receive a special portrait session at either our North Shore studio or at the hospital. Sessions include a chance to be considered for the calendar plus a 5x7 print and inclusion in a "Hawaii's Miracles" limited edition book.
Session will be held on the North Shore April 12 through 19  and at Kapi`olani medical Center May 8, 9 & 10.
Session times will be limited and we are only accepting the first 100 families, so call now to book your session!
This is going to be such a fun collaboration and we are proud to help support Hawaii's only children's hospital and be  part of their 100 year celebration! We hope you will be a part of it too!

Helllloooooo!
I know I have been a blog neglecter lately... we have been so busy though working on a new look and some new ideas for 2008 that I am just now getting back to the blog! Forgive me for the delay!
We are very excited about our new look and new logo.... 

What do you think? Similar to our previous one but we just wanted something a bot more updated.

We have some new products for 2008 including a  new toddler plan called "Still Growing " for our older babies and we are now offering some cool framing options with bamboo or sans frame with a cool gallery wrap or a wall stand-out. We will be announcing more soon and I promise also to be back soon with some fun new images too!!

Sneak Peek for A&A

For two weeks I was being rained out of nearly every session and now this past week  I have spent getting caught up! It seems like we went from winter to summer in a matter of a couple days!
So now meet little A.... she is a beautiful girl inside and out that I have gotten to work with before... this time we were updating her modeling card and I think we came up with some great images... so here is a sneak peel for Mom!

got dogs?

are you dog lover? do you look forward to coming home at the end of the and playing with your pooch?
do you love cuddling up in front of the tv and using your dog as a pillow... (or a foot rest)? do you think their funny faces are the cutest thing you have EVER seen??

I love dogs and one of my  favorite things is dog portraits! And now I have an easy way for you to get some great images of your best friend! We are teaming up with Tails of Hawaii to create some fun, playful and wonderful images of your buddy.

Tails of Hawaii is a doggie "playcare" center located in Waipio close to Costco... it is a great place to take your pet when you need to be gone whether just on a shopping trip, all day at work or when traveling off island. They have a fabulous facility  and you can just see how much fun the dogs have playing with each other! They have areas based on the size and temperament of your dog and the staff gives lots of love and belly rubs to all the "kids" that they take care of!
We will be having doggie mini photo sessions on location there next week Friday, February 15 with a special session fee of just $50... we also have special packages that include images not only in prints, but images on a CD so you can keep your buddy with you on your have your buddy on your iphone, your screen saver or to e-mail to friends!
So give us a call and we will schedule a session for your buddy and get some great images that you cherish.. oh and if you can't make it that day, you can always leave your dog in the very capable hands of the staff at Tails, and while you are off doing your things, your dog will be having a great time plus getting some great images for you!!!

help wanted....

Do you know someone that would like to make some extra cash working just one or two days a week?
We are looking for someone to be our marketing director and come in one long day a week (8-10 hours) or a couple of short days each week.
The job will entail a variety of things from meeting with current and potential business partners to helping distribute materials to making phone calls and organizing mail to clients. The hours are flexible, the pay is good and will include benefits of free photo sessions and images!

thanks to everyone who kept good thoughts for Nani...
She got to come home from the doggie hospital yesterday after having to have two surgeries and be in a cage for 10 days. Now we have the challenge of rehab and no activity for several weeks... that is hard on a puppy, she already wants to run and play even though her entire leg is in a cast!
We are all happy though that she is home and thankful that she is ok... keep the good thoughts coming for her recovery... we do appreciate it!

Nani

This is our puppy Nani... she is 8 month old now and the love of my daughters life! They roll around on the floor together, run through the house together, play on the beach together and I swear there are times when you can hear them laugh together!
Nani loves her bones, loves to roll around in the sand and loves every person and every dog she meets!

Nani has a problem with one of her elbows... her bones aren't growing correctly and she is in a lot of pain. She is having major surgery Friday to try and correct the problem and make her feel better.
Even though she has been in our lives for a short time, she has become an important member of our family. She is a silly, sweet, goofy, mellow, everything you could want in a dog kind of puppy... (well except for the chewing all of my favorite slippers, but that is minor!!), please keep good thoughts for her.

I'll keep you posted on her progress after she comes home...

I have had the opportunity this past couple weeks to spend time with my daughter doing what she loves... hanging at the beach or at skate board park AND doing what I love, photographing kids and testing out new ideas I have for my images... it has been a blast! School starts back tomorrow and I am almost sad.... ok, not too sad because now I can get caught up and get on with paying the bills, but a little sad to not hang out with my little buddy at the beach and skate park! Yes, I actually really love hanging out in those places too!
I am working on some new galleries for my website which should be up soon and think I am in love with doing the "urban session in funky, unusual locations!
Here are a few of the gorgeous kids I have been lucky enough to photograph....
 




All amazing children.... and one of these faces you will soon start seeing in Target ads AND she just got a new gig doing the Pottery Barn summer catalog! I am so happy for her!
That's it for today... tomorrow I will show you more... oh and to the moms of these beautiful children... THANKS so much for letting me do what I love to do the way I love to do it! I know some of you weren't too sure when I wanted to go into alleys or use dumpsters as backdrops... but I am so glad you trusted me in these funky "urban" locations and we got great images because of it! Oh and I will  have a gallery ready for you soon!
I am on the look out for a few more stunning kids to play with between the ages of 4-6 and 10-12... if you have a child that loves the camera this age, please call as I am setting up a couple more "play sessions" for early February and will trade you images for your time!
